My Training

I have been practising Qigong for about 15 years and in the last 5 years I dove in and completed my Masters training in Medical Qigong based Traditional Chinese Medicine with Wendy Lang.  I have also studied with Matthew Cohen, Ken Cohen, Dr. Steven Aung and Minke Devos.

What is Qigong?

Qi: energy

Gong: to skillfully work with

The word 'qigong' is made of two words.  'Qi' (chee) is translated as energy or Life Force.  More specifically, it is energy that has a bio or universal intelligence.  'Gong' is generally translated as skillful action.

Qigong is an integration of physical postures, breathing techniques, and focused intention for healing and maintaining mental and physical health.

Qigong practise has 3 stages:

1. purge stagnant energy or Qi

2. build up or nourish Qi

3, regulate or maintain balanced Qi

A wonderful image Qigong practitioners use it that of a river flowing.   It flows easily, not too rapidly, not obstructed by rocks and not deficient in quantity so the flow is ongoing and consistent.  This what we seek to cultivate in our own energy system.
